The activists install a big scale red lantern to symbolize the failure of Austria’s climate politics. According to the European Environment Agency Austria is the only country among the EU-15 that is not meeting its climate goals established at the Kyoto-conference. Therefore Austria is the EU’s climate tail lamp. Within a decade Austria turned from being an environmental model to being the EU’s tail light in terms of climate politics, so Greenpeace demands that the Austrian Government rearranges its climate politics, and for instance creates a separate ministry for environment and climate that has ample authorities.
